It's confusing what you should download, but I tried new 1.10 or something now.

Seems like I deleeted my old comment, but what data would I need to buy? I think this was supposed to be free at some point too? I'm trying to remember right now.

And what exactly was gained by rebranding "family", "dad" and "mum" as "friends", "pal" and "bud"?

Their relationship dynamic wasn't changed and becomes immediately evident in the prologue, so presumably it wasn't intended as false advertising.

And it's not like itch seems to have any problem with hosting tons of incest already, so presumably it also wasn't to avoid the game being banned.

But so then why bother with superficial rebranding at all?

Dev, I ask one thing. Please get the father to fix his relationship with his wife. A son taking a father's wife is completely messed up and I favoured for the father but nothing changed the end. It was quite disappointing.

Their website has a very interesting post (EPILOGUE & PROLOGUE) people should read regarding the game's development: https://gumdropgames.net/new/

Runs fine on Linux as well running Dual_Family.sh.  I don't understand why these game developers don't list their games as Linux compatible.  This gets hidden when Linux users filter for Linux compatible games.

How did you run it on Linux?

Open a terminal and run the Dual_Family.sh file.
So if you extracted the archive to your Desktop you'd run:
/home/USERNAME/Desktop/Dual_Family-0.91re-pc/Dual_Family.sh

This looks really nice and I would have no problem to pay 20 or 30 USD for the complete package, but besides the pinups for the 30 USD package and some features of the Custom Edition, neither here, nor on your own website are  clear information on the difference between the old, the semi new and the new version of the game for potential customers.
You already showed of some of the crucial information at the beginning of this page, but the most important ones I think are those differences. And those I can't find. For example:

Are the visuals better in the new versions? did you make changes in the gameplay or are there more choices/paths or kind of trophies? did you alter some of the character designs and so on.. and even if you think as dev that it should be obvious that the main difference are the visuals (just a guess of mine), KNOWING them is a completely other thing. :)

This kind of information should not behind a paywall or login on a separate website. Potential contributers just want to see if the product is worth their money and their time. You don't need to show every new picture if there are better visuals, but only 1 or 2 and some of the old to compare for example, and if there already are new visuals on display, pls tag them better :)

It is easier to support a product or a dev, if you know such basic infos instead of just guessing them. Maybe I am at the minority here when I think that way, but I bet I am not the only one, and I think the most of those people just skipped the game or just played the free version, even if they would have contributed.

PS: I looked very closely but if there is an infobox or something that I missed that delivers the things I am searching for, ignore this post. BUT pls make sure that the info is better to find :P
